"[When] Martin Luther King was assassinated in April of 1968, [Cleveland] had what was called the Hough riots, where the African American people were so upset by [their] treatment that they rioted and burned down buildings."

Introductory Profile: About Jon and Mary Carol Lewis

I interviewed Mary Carol Lewis and John Lewis, my maternal grandparents. They currently live in Cleveland, Ohio. They have four children, one of whom is adopted and is the main subject of my interview. They are both of Irish descent, and they are kind and loving people.

In the interview, the topics we cover were mainly about their experience with adopting a black child. The interview's tone ranged from happy to sad depending on the nature of the question.
