Introductory Profile: About Jennifer Long

Jennifer Long was born on September 15, 1956 in Dallas. She moved to Austin in 1982. She taught school for four years after she had graduated from college with a degree in Social Philosophy. She received a Masterís in English as a Second Language (ESL). She has been the director of Casa Marianella, a refugee and immigrant home, since 1998. Her inspiration started when she participated in homeless services and worked for year with the Los Angeles Catholic Worker in 1978.

In this interview Jennifer gives us her thoughts about immigration rights and immigrant taxes. She tells us how her organization, Casa Marianella, supports immigrants and refugees. She also talks about the mistreatment of immigrants and how they are discriminated against by the citizens in the United States and in other countries as well. She has been working with immigrants for over 17 years.
