"You can be unapologetically yourself, but you can be unapologetically yourself safely, too."

Introductory Profile: About Leo C.

Leo C. is a 16 year old teenager who attends the Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA) with my sister. They are tall, with short brown hair and glasses. They like cats and english breakfast tea, and they are pansexual (not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender, or gender identity) and agender (denoting or relating to a person who does not identify themselves as having a particular gender), and they use they/them pronouns.

We covered topics such as their questioning phase, coming out to friends and family, and recent political events such as the bathroom bill that is threatening to pass in some states. Leo is very straightforward and very talkative. The interview was very casual, and Leo seemed to be enthusiastic about the topic, which most likely comes from being an activist for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, women, and minorities.

Their interview shows that while we have come very far in LGBTQIA+ rights in the past 30 or 40 years, we still have a lot of work to do in terms of providing social, political, and economic equality for everyone, regardless of gender identity, gender, sexual orientation, race, and age.
