Introductory Profile: About Frances Pacheco Camacho

Frances Pacheco Camacho (1970-) is my mother, born in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. Her parents were born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, which was a town coincidentally founded by her distant ancestor, Fernando Pacheco, who was also the first mayor. She is the fourth of five children and grew up in a family that played lots of sports. She played volleyball growing up.

Frances came to Austin in 1993 to get a masterís degree in architecture from UT Austin. After graduation, she started working at a local firm where she met Mark Brooks, whom she married in 1999. They have two children, Gustavo (me) and Andres Brooks. Frances now works part-time at an Austin architecture firm. She also does volunteer work at her church, St. Theresaís. She enjoys reading, playing tennis, travelling, and spending time with her family.
