Introductory Profile: About Sreeni N.

I interviewed Sreeni N., my father, about the reservation system in India when he was growing up and how it affected his education. He was born in India, graduated in Finance and Systems Management, and came to the U.S. in 1996. He started his career as a coding trainee and is now a project manager. He is a tall man with wavy salt and pepper hair. He is a very serious person but always has an amused tone to his voice.

We talked about the reservation system in India, specifically about how his caste affected his education. It was a very sensitive topic because it brought up painful memories of irrational things students did to protest against the government, which in some cases ended tragically. The overall tone of the interview was somber, and there was also some frustration as Sreeni expressed his thoughts of how the government discriminated students. Overall, I am very glad to have interviewed Sreeni about his thoughts on the caste based reservation system in India.
