Emily and Shannon Spurgeon
As interviewed by Ava Spurgeon, March 16, 2018
"I do remember feeling glad we moved to New York when we did because I feel like if we were supposed to come after 9/11 we might not have gone, and I was so glad to be there, you know, in those years"
Introductory Profile: About Shannon and Emily Spurgeon
For my interview, I interviewed my parents, Emily and Shannon Spurgeon, about living in new york during and after September eleventh, 2001. They moved to New York just a few weeks before 9/11 occured, my dad was working at Chelsea Post, and my mom was working at the PBS station. My mom was ironing her shirt, preparing to go to a job interview at the World Trade Center, when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. My parents talked about during the attack, the fear, and not knowing what was really happening. They also talked about afterwards, the anxiety everyone had, not knowing if they were really safe, and the sadness all over New York.
