As interviewed by Sophia Olivares, March 12, 2016
"I interpret the word feminist very positively. I interpret the word feminist as being pro women. We should all be feminists because we should all believe that women have equal opportunities and equal rights as men. So to me being a feminist is being pro women."

Introductory Profile: About Rylee Mcarthy

I came to meet my interviewee (who wishes to remain anonymous) through my old elementary school. Her children go there and my little brother knows them. I thought of her for my first hand history project because I was very inspired by her work with Girlstart and how the program encouraged me to get more involved in math and science.
My interviewee has won many awards including Oprah Winfrey's “use your life” award, and was a three time finalist of the Ernst+Young’s Entrepreneur of the year award. She strongly believes that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities and she constantly works to make her vision possible.

In our interview we talked about stereotypes for both genders, how people interpret feminism, how social media affects people perceive gender, and if the world could ever truly achieve gender equality. The tone of this interview was serious since we addressed a problem that has yet to be solved. I enjoyed talking with her very much about her viewpoints and I learned a lot from listening to my interviewee’s experiences and ideas.
