Richelle King

As interviewed by Alexandra Watson, March 17, 2017
"Cecile Richards, the current president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, founded TFN in 1995 because she noticed this rise of ultra-right conservatism in Texas, and she knew that, in order to combat it, there needed to be an organization solely dedicated to being a watchdog of the religious right here."

Introductory Profile: About Richelle King

Richelle King is a sixth year senior at UT, and is also an active member of the Texas Freedom Network (TFN), an organization working to ensure that individuals are not denied religious freedom, individual liberties, or public education in the state of Texas. In addition, she is a member of Texas Rising, a subgroup of TFN that is composed completely of activists under the age of 30. At the University of Texas, Richelle is able to get students involved in the organization.

I was introduced to her through another TFN member; a family friend named Dan Quinn. Richelle seemed extremely devoted, and I was interested to learn more about what she was working toward.

She is very friendly and energetic, and has a unique sense of style. But most of all, she is determined to ensure that no one’s right are impeded upon, regardless of who they are. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to meet someone like her, and her commitment is truly inspiring.
